Heat pump issues
Bought a new Goodman GSZ130361 Heat Pump had it installed and it runs for about a minute and shuts off (opens contactor). It was a scratch and dent unit (looks like light sheet metal damage thats it). For the time it runs compressor pulls 40 amps for a second and than settles down to 8 amps. Pressures are looking good. So bypassed the high and low limit switch no change. Replaced the board with new one , no change. Replaced the contactor with a new one, no change. I can get it to run if I put the thermostat wire directly to the contactor and bypass the board. It runs great cools and heats and sounds fine. Its currently working with that.
I'd like to set it up right. What am I missing? This unit is NEW.
Help.

If you’d like to get it set up properly, let’s start by filling this out. Correct commissioning of the unit is essential to proper operation.

Regarding your issue, use a meter to determine where your loosing control voltage. Don’t jump things out, that’s not troubleshooting. It’s guessing.

That is a 3 ton 13 SEER heat pump condensor.
Not sure how the commissioning form is going to help here. It certainly can't be posted here.
It sounds like the member bought his own heat pump condensor and had it installed. That makes him liable for repairs or pay the installer to troubleshoot it. Fair is fair.
It sounds to me like you have the wiring from the air handler to the condensor incorrect. There should be at least five wires connecting the two.
R - red 24vac.
C - black/blue - common.
O - orange -reversing valve.
W - white - electric heat activation.
Y - yellow - compressor.

It will give the OP an idea of what’s involved getting the unit setup correctly, at least as far as topics not related to charging.
This member was on another website. He said he bought a scratch and dent unit and had a friend install it, but the friend has not been able to figure out what’s wrong with it.

Gotcha.
The problem pretty much centers around the defrost board. If power is being supplied from the house and applying it directly to the contactor keeps it running.... it's not getting thru the defrost board. The d' board is not connected properly or is defective.
