A/C capacitor wiring

I am replacing my capacitor and noticed the wiring on my current capacitor doesn't look correct. I've attached image and you'll see that I have a dual capacitor (TRCFD455) and I have my purple and yellow wires coming into the HERM connector and the red wire coming into the C connector. The 3rd connector, FAN, doesn't have any wires connected to it.

Is this normal?

Welcome to the forums.

Is there a second capacitor in use.
The fan may have been separated from the dual capacitor.

Pete,

Glad I found these forums! As a new homeowner I look forward to spending some more time here.

I poked around the unit and only found 1 capacitor, which was the one that I removed.

If that is the only cap then there is a problem. Your A/C should not even have worked if that's incorrect.

I'm going to need a picture further back.
A make and model would be helpful too.

Looks like a Lennox color code.
I would expect the fan motor to get hot and drop out with purple in the wrong spot like that.
