C-Wire Spaghetti Factory

Thought this would be simple install. No control board in the Air Handler just a mess of wires. Can anybody just lead me in the right direction. Or should I just call someone to get this Ecobee lite thing installed. Any help would be appreciated and hopefully before the girlfriend gets home in a couple of days.

I added a labeled diagram to your post. The brown wire is common.
It should currently have one of the A/C condensor lines attached to it.

That looks to be the correct wire. See if you can confirm the other wiring. That black wire that is connected to that brown wire should go to the outside condensor. That black wire should go into a cable with at least two wires. The other wire in that cable would connect to the wire that gets connected to Y at the thermostat.
