Upgrading Carrier Comfort Zone 1st Generation (1992).
have a Carrier Comfort Zone 1st Generation 4 Zone System that was installed in 1992 when my home was built in Florida. The original Carrier air handler and heat pump was replaced in 2010 with TempStar equipment.
I'm having trouble with the existing thermostat that is no longer manufactured. It is my understanding this thermostat is not upgradeable and I would have to upgrade the entire comfort zone system.
I would also like to be able to monitor and adjust my AC system using a smartphone.
I would like your professional advice on what manufacturer you think is the best?
I understand Carrier still makes a zone system. I also understand Honeywell makes a zone system.
I'm not sure if anyone else makes a residential zone system?
Thank you in advance for your professional advice.

A four zone system will have one master thermostat and three slaves.
Will be kind of tough to monitor four thermostats.

I am amazed that your first generation Carrier zone control has functioned this long. That was the model that had a dial on it. If you also have the square barometric bypass and the original motorized zone dampers you should replace those as well.
Carrier has a nice function that I haven’t seen in other models. If the Leaving Air Temperature sensor detects that the plenum air is too cold or too hot, because only one or 2 zones have a demand, it will start to modulate the closed dampers open.
