Exclamation Changing A/C power wire?

My outside central ac unit isnít working. The contactor for L2 looks fried, and so does the L2 wire. I can figure out how to replace the contactor. But how do I replace the fried wire (Black L2 wire from unit to the outside breaker). How do I know what to buy and where to buy it?

Welcome to the forums.

You don't need to replace the entire wire. You can cut off the bad end and either restrip that to go to the contactor or splice on a short piece of the same wire.

Usually the wire is #10 (30A breaker). So a short piece of #10 THHN and a wire nut,

Many home improvement stores have it on a bulk roll. Otherwise you have to buy a small coil like 25'.
