Outdoor condenser low voltage wires exposed - good or bad?
Low voltage wires from furnace are connected to the outdoor condenser unit with plastic wire nuts and those connections are visible from the outside of the condenser unit.
High voltage connections are protected and cannot be seen from the outside.
Normally, I would think exposed wires (18gauge or 16 gauge?) with only plastic wire nuts is bad because:
1) dogs, mice, rabbits, kids, etc...
2) Rain/water/snow
3) Just looks bad with random wires hanging out of the condensing unit.
Is there some reason an HVAC tech would tell me it is ok?
By exposed, I mean the connections/wire nuts; not the wire itself.

Wirenuts are fine for that connection. Some units have the splice outside the splice area and some have the splices inside the wiring compartment.
Wirenuts used out in the weather need to be used open end down so they don't fill with water.

Ok. Not too concerned about wire nuts being the method of connection, just that the connection is made outside the wire box and is just laying on the "fake cement" platform which sits on the ground.
Just feels like it's a lawn mower/animal accident waiting to happen (even if it is an easy fix). Just like to not waste time on avoidable issues.
