Every window/wall type unit has one very specific rule when being installed, and that is that the unit must have a drop of at least 1/4" to the back. This is so condensation will run to the back (outside) and drip off. Most units have a plug or drain at the back/bottom.
The other reason you are getting leakage may be from excessive buildup of dust/dirt on the coils on the inside, just behind your air filter, which may have caused them to literally freeze over. When the unit cuts off, this ice thaws and dripping can occur on the inside. An easy check, just pull your front panel, the air filter and look for signs of icing. If present, remove the unit and give it a good cleaning. Plenty of tube videos on how to do this. This is a VERY common issue with window/wall units, and why the filters should be removed and cleaned very often.
