Welcome to the forums.

You said your A/C broke. Is it dead...... not even the front panel lights up ?
What is the model number of it ?

I agree with fins/louvers to a vent. They look to big for fan blades.

Not dead -- lights are on, it responds to the remote, outlets work, and I wouldn't be surprised if the heat exchange etc. also works. The one thing I definitely know is broken is that it no longer blows hot air out of the exhaust vent.

It's a Duracraft AMD 8500E.

If it is moving air then the blower is ok. It sounds like the compressor is not running. If there is a condensate storage tank on the unit.... make sure it's empty and the float isn't stuck.

The exhaust vent gets hot when it's running, it just doesn't blow out any air. I looked inside and there were more louvers/whatever down there:
I'm trying to open it to take a closer look but the covers seem stuck together at the top. Not sure if I've missed a screw or something.

Looks like your exhaust blower wheel blew apart.

The blower wheel definitely blew apart. Those are the remnants.

Since it appears to be a one tube model even if repairable probably isn't worth repairing because one tubes are inefficient. Best to replace with a two tube model.

If you can do it yourself, maybe.
Paying someone else to do it, you quickly pay more in repairs then a new one would cost.
You’ll have to dig to get to the blower.

I didn't locate any parts distributor that would have the parts you need.
You could check at a parts retailer in the UK.

How old is it? Any chance it's under warranty or has a recall for the squirrel cage blower?

If it's older, than it MIGHT be worthwhile to pickup a used-but-working version of the same model from a thrift shop or yard sale, keep this one for spare parts, but it really depends on whether the unit is constructed so that you can replace pieces.

Only good thing, if it's cheapish plastic cage fan, that woudl seem to en I'd suggest that they bought off-the-shelf parts or a standard sized fan.

There is little to no info or parts available for these units. I traced the company to a manufacturer in China but they do not sell parts. I happened to see this on amazon/uk. Maybe you can get info thru them.
