non-pro owning R410A

I understand the rules concerning a non-licensed person working with refrigerant gases.

My licensed local contractor has offered to use my refrigerant in the future should my system need a topping off.

My question is it legal for me to buy and own a 25 pound jug of this refrigerant for the professionals use at my home in the future? Does it matter who the manufacturer is? Can it be stored in my basement long term?

Thanks.

If they'll sell to you then ok. Most pro's will only use their own supplied refrigerant. You shouldn't require a yearly topping off. Finding the leak would be more effective.

Refrigerant isn’t consumed during unit operation. If it needs charged, the leak should be found.
Besides being an added expense for you, it can cause compressor damage.
