Testing Capacitor - Slow Reading

Testing my dual run capacitor on my HVAC 50/7.5. It takes anywhere from 5-10 secs to get an accurate reading on the start side (50 mfds) on my digital meter? After this time, the capacitor reads within range. Just curious if there is any issue for it taking so long.

I know it has to build up the charge, just not sure if it should do it in 2-3 sec or if 10 secs indicates anything amiss.

Thanks

The higher the value the longer it takes to charge and get a reading.
This would be different with each meter.

I'm getting a Klein delivered tomorrow so I'll check it with that. I was just concerned that 10 seconds was slower than "normal" and would affect the function of the capacitor. Sounds like your saying, as long as it gets to the correct reading all is good. The delay is more a function of the meter than the operation of the capacitor.

The new Klein gives me the reading in 3 sec every time. It even shows a sort of indicator letting you know its working on the reading. Still within spec.

Thanks PJ

Awesome. Fluke makes good test equipment. Very reliable. Worth the few extra bucks.
