Home AC
Hello all,
I live in Sacramento, and the temperatures are rising quickly! I recently turned my air conditioning on after months of the cold season, and it started making noise when the AC is running. It almost sounds like someone is walking on my roof. Any help would be much appreciated!
thank you

Welcome to the forums.
It sounds like you have a packaged unit on the roof.
Is this a heat pump system where it supplies heat in the winter and A/C in the summer ?
A fan out of balance as well as a defective belt can both make loud noises.
It's going to take a visit to the roof to diagnose the problem.

I would inspect your unit. Maybe birds or rodents have built a nest inside the blower making it out of balance. Removing the debris should take care of the problem. Before reaching into the unit make sure you have turned off the service disconnect so it cannot turn on unexpectedly.
