AC not coming on .. not getting 24 volts at contactor

I have 24 volts coming into the condenser but I cannot get 24 volts at either end of the Contactor.

if I push the contactor, the AC does come on.

what could be impeding me to the contactor?

TY

Does your unit have pressure switches?
Don’t press the contactor in manually, it can be dangerous and cause damage.
Look up arc flash.

Once you have confirmed you have 24vAC AT the condenser coming from the house you need to trace the wiring thru the unit. There should be a low pressure switch in line. There may be a high pressure switch. There could be a delay timer.

When checking for 24v at the contactor..... check at the coil terminals..... not from the terminals to ground.
