Trane XL1050 relay for timed use of REME HALO

Hi,

I recently purchased a new Trane system with a Reme Halo. Of course, I like the slight hydrogen peroxide smell but the wife does not. even with it set at its lowest level it still produces a smell. One thing that happens is that while the system is in idle, the Halo is still on, then when it restarts the fan it is strong. The wife doesn't like the fan in circulate either, so still an issue.

What I would like to do, is have the Halo run while the thermostat is set to "away" then I can schedule it to run only in the day when we are at work.

Is it possible to set up an output on the relay board to be triggered in "away"

If not, can I use z-wave or Nexia, to pole the thermostat for the away condition and drive it through a home automating device?

Any help would be appreciated. If this doesn't work I am going to set up and Arduino UNO with an RTC and a pressure sensor to sense the fan running and schedule it to run during specific times when the fan is also running. Would be easier to use the thermostat for the schedule, but the Arduino solution would likely work most of the time

Welcome to the forums.

That has the same basic problem as the electrostatic cleaners..... a buildup of particles when the fan isn't running. I connect those cleaners into the blower circuit so that both run together.

I don't think having the Halo on without the blower is going to be helpful.

can you please tell me how I can get the 24vac power t from the blower circuit? Is there a relay in the relay panel? I have a 4ton TAM9 handler, 4 ton XL18i heat pump with XL1050 control

is the "G-fan" terminal suitable to run the Halo or would it need a relay?

is there any way to use the aux1 or aux2 dry contacts to run the Halo during "away"

I'll check further into that.
My forum partner, Houston, can better answer the Trane questions.

here is the plan.

I will use a current sensor on the "G-fan" wire to tell when the fan is on
I will set up an Arduino Mega 2560 with:
sense current so it knows the fan is running
a real-time clock and schedule the run to 8 am to 2 pm mon-fri
a relay to interrupt the 25vac to the Halo
basically, the code will trigger the relay if the fan is running from 8 am to 2 pm mon-fri

I may also add a display and humidity and temp sensor for kicks

then it will display the schedule, current time, temp and humidity in the garage next to the air handler
