American standard central air
Had a American Standard central air put in last week. Paid for 16 seer looked today and found sticker on unit was 14.5 seer. Picked 16 seer because get 2 hundred dollars back from electric company. I called company that installed it. My question is if they were to reimburse me to keep unit how much and how much energy savings 14.5 vs 16 seer. I think it was three hundred more for 16 seer vs 14 seer not counting the 2 hundred dollars rebate from electric company. I don't know if I get a federal tax credit on my federal tax return at the end of the year. Maybe just have it replaced. The a coil would not be affected? Just have to replace the outside unit? Thanks in advance. Joe

You can ask the contractor for the AHRI certification. Or do the search yourself. It's possible for a 14.5 SEER cnedensing unit to be rated at 16 SEER, depends on the indoor coil/ahu. Don't forget to register the unit for the extended warranty if the contractor has not already done that for you.
