AC running and charged but not cooling

I am a maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex with a very limited budget. I’m having a problem with a couple of ancient ac units that are charged, compressor and fan are working, blowers are working but I’m not getting any cold air. The large line is ambient temperature and the small line is hot. Feeling pretty defeated at this point and my residents are burning up.

Welcome to the forums.

If the large line leaving the compressor is not cold...... the compressor is not working or is shot.
That line should get ice cold and the compressor should be very warm to hot to the touch.

Standing pressure doesn’t mean the system is charged right.
Sounds like a charge problem if the liquid line is hot and the system isn’t cooling.

Hi, what does compressor charged mean? as mentioned the suction line should be cold and even sweating if the system is operating correctly.
