Wiring capacitor
I have a Rheem AC compressor Model RA1648AJINA. I am changing the capacitor. old capacitor had 2 poles 45UF. Old capacitor has 2 wires, 1 purple and 1 red. I have a new capacitor dual run 3 poles. Do I connect purple wire to C and Red wire to Herm? please advise.

If you're only using the compressor side of the new capacitor, it doesn't matter which color wire goes to the C & Herm terminals (capacitor is non-polarized). However, if you want to use both sides of the new capacitor (compressor & fan), it does matter. One of the wires (Red or Purple) will be connected to one of the wires going to the fan capacitor. The wires that are common (connected to each other) connect to the C (Common) terminal on the dual capacitor.
