AC unit not pumping cool air?
I have an old Trane XL90 furnace/AC unit. The fan runs but you the condenser never kicks in to pump cool air. Where do I start to trouble shoot before calling a pro? Thermostat, outside unit, etc?

Most likely the problem will be outside. There could be one of a number of problems.
1) Low on refrigerant
2) Tripped breaker to condenser or blown fuse in disconnect. (some have fuses.... some don't.)
3) Set the unit to a call for cooling and see if the contactor is closed. The contactor can be found in the wiring compartment where the wiring connects to the unit.
A meter would be very helpful in locating a problem.
