5 Ton Scroll Condenser Pulsing

We have a 6 year old Trane 5 ton central A/C. It is scroll type compressor. So far so good as far as you canít stop a Trane. It cools fine.
I have noticed recently that there seems to be a periodic laboring sound coming from the condenser. It has a period of about 1 second. It is kind of a noise you hear when two motors have slightly different speeds but the speeds are related to each other and kind of thump. Kind of a basey whomp, whomp, whomp.
Before I potentially have the A/C guy come out and tell me there is nothing wrong, I thought I would ask if these happens with scroll compressors.
Our other unit is a 2 ton Trane piston type compressor. It has a steady noise when the compressor is running.
I did try to get some noise isolation with 1/8Ē rubber under the case feet on the concrete pad. No difference. If I press on the sides of the condenser there is some minor change but it just comes back.
