A/C register temps go from 80`s to 60`s

My A/C blows warm air for 15-30 minutes or so at a time then will drop to the 60`s. This happens multiple times a day. The A/C runs a very long time now that Its summer. Anywhere from 6-14 hours a day. It can never keep up at the set temp if the outside air is in the mid 80`s.

Could this be from low refrigerant? Any other possibilities?

Thanks

Get an accurate thermometer. Measure the air temperature at the intake that sucks in air for your AC. Turn on the AC and give it a few minutes and take the temperature of the air coming out of the vent. You can also check several other vents around the house. Post back with how much temperature drop you are seeing.

Also check the outside condenser to see if it's running when the air gets warm.

Ok, Air intake is about 75-77 (thermostat says 77) vents say 78-80.

I went outside when the vents were blowing warm air and the condenser fan was off but kicked on, right when I got up to it. It did not seem like it struggled to turn on.

The coils outside are clean but I don't feel any heat around it. It just feels like the outside temp.

OK, 20 minutes later when cool air is blowing I have:

73-75 degree at the intake and 60 at the vents

If your thermostat was calling for cooling..... the outside unit should have been running. Keep an eye on it. Based on it intermittently running and your low delta t..... 73-75 minus 60 equals 13-15 which should be closer to 20....... you may be low on refrigerant.
