Condenser unit fan not running
In Louisiana we are running the air conditioner because it's still hot. I noticed that the air conditioner was not cooling the house and so I went outside to investigate. I found that condensing unit fan was not running and all I could hear is a buzz. Putting my hand over the fan motor it's extremely hot which tells me that the motor is bad. I don't have the tools necessary to pull the motor off but do you think this is the culprit behind why the house is not cooling?

If the condenser is powered and the compressor is running.... then the fan must be running too.
The fans job is to remove the heat from the condenser.
Your compressor is cycling on thermal overload..... high heat. That's not good for it.
It could just be a bad capacitor rather than the motor.
That would be the first place to start.

When the contactor closes..... both fan and compressor need to run together.
Is the compressor even running ?
If not.... you have other problems.
