Trane heat pump (no aux heater) issues?
EDIT: Never mind. Forgot to jump from Y to W. Working now. Thx
The model number is TWD724B100A1. Fan is always on AUTO mode. In heat mode, air blow inside, seems like normal air, not cold or warm. Outside unit fan not running or making any noise. Swithching to cool mode, fan (outside) and compressor kicks in. Switch back to heat mode everything stop. I can feel and hear the clicking from the reversing fan valve between mode.
is this normal for the outside unit to not doing anything in heat mode?
if reversing valve fail, should the unit blow cold air, even in heat mode?
Temp is about 60 outside but the sun is hitting on the outside unit.
thx

You are saying that you only have a heat pump..... no back up or AUX heat ?
If that is true.... the stat may be programmed wrong.
It needs to be programmed as heat pump with no backup heat.
Typically if the room temperature is three or more degrees below the set temperature.... the AUX will run. Depending on how the stat is programmed it should be the heat pump first.... then the AUX heats gets turned on.... the heat pump could shut down if the system wasn't recovering fast enough.

That is correct! Just heat pump, no back up or aux heat. The thermostat was set up to heat pump but I found out I never put a Jumper between Y and W. Put a jumper in and it works instantly.
