I wiring diagram this is what i have....2 wires
I have a 2 ton Mr. Cool Air Handler. It says it factory wired for 240 volts. I open the panel and there is a white wire and a black wire, nothing else. Am I to assume they are using the white wire for a hot and i have to put my own ground in? I did contact tech support. They said it was wired for straight 240 volts...use the white for a neutral. Confusing...any suggestions?
If that's the outside unit..... you'll need a disconnect on the wall for servicing.
It would be a 2P 30A non fused disconnect.
You can use a 60A disconnect. It's easier to get and less expensive. 2P60A disconnect
Between that and your unit you could use flex line and separate #14 or #12 wires. An example of flex whip
The guys putting in my new insulation in the attic saw it and were conscientious enough to take a picture and send it to me.
I had told them to leave a path to the portion of the air conditioning equipment that is in the attic so my HVAC guy could get to it to service it.
I don't know if this is a photo of that unit or some sort of ducting or heating or cooling return or what have you. What I do know is the guy that installed the insulation said my HVAC guy should look at it as this thing being ajar was probably letting heat into the roof or letting dust pass to somewhere or some such thing.
So if you recognize this from your long experience in this arena, please let me know what it is or could be, and what the potential concerns are or could be.
Thank you.

I’m in Phoenix and have a two yr old Rheem 5 Ton, 14 seer pac unit (Model RQPM-A060JK000AUA). In Cooling mode occasionally unit comes ON but fan does not start, only compressor runs (continuously). Only has happened in Cooling mode, never in HEAT mode. If I turn unit OFF at thermostat and back ON then problem persists. If I turn unit OFF at thermostat for an hour or two then problem goes away. Problem started last September and occurred about once every other week during the hot a/c days. Problem has never happen during the winter HEAT mode months. Last week with a few hot days and while in Cooling mode it happened again. Have stumped the unit installer’s HVAC Service Techs... been out twice and say “everything looks fine”, they say they checked the fan capacitor out. Any help diagnosing or troubleshooting this intermittent problem is appreciate. Read More
