I think I might have a problem with my thermostat (RobertShaw brand). Here is what I perceive happening:
1. When it's time to call for AC I hear a double click from thermostat relay. Instead of a usual single click.
2. AC starts and immediately shuts off
3. The temp stays above the trigger point
4. AC starts after few minutes required for AC to start again.
5. Everything works fine afterwards until call is satisfied.
It almost feels to me that thermostat calls for AC and then immediately tells AC to stop. Even though the temperature is still above the trigger point.
The problem seems to be consistent and reproducible.
While AC is still working fine, I don't like an extra start/stop cycle for AC and I worry something might be going bad.
Anyone experienced anything like that?
Thanks.

Hard to tell if it's a problem.
The model of the thermostat would be required as many stats have A/C delays on startup.
Some may turn on blower and delay compressor.
Some delay both.

following up on this. the problem turned out to be the thermostat running of the battery. not sure why it would exhibit this behavior though - starting and shutting off the AC immediately and then have it started normal after the cool off period. but now it's all back to normal
