I have a 60 amp disconnect as I don't want to use fuse (all 30 amp seem to have fuse)
my ODU heat pump is max 31 amp, min 17 amp.
Can I use 10/2 Romex for that, or should I stick with a 6/2?
disconnect is going to be wired just above a crawl space vent, which leads to basement
Picture attached of nameplate.
All amd any advice appreciated
10/2 Romex on a 30 amp breaker/fuse will be fine for your A/C. 6/2 is way overkill.
The Romex can only be used from the panel to the disconnect (Indoors). From the disconnect to the unit you are required to use induvial conductors and liquid tight conduit. Or you can just get one of these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwir...1201/203009404
I have an attic room we remodeled recently. I live in PNW and we do not have central A/C so I have a couple portable units that I vent outside through the wall directly because I have casement windows and the A/C vent adaptors don't work in those windows. The problem in the attic room is I put the vent outtake in the middle of the room which I discovered after the fact that it is too long for the A/C unit to expel and it simply acts like a big fan so, the unit needs help getting the air out.
So I was wondering if there are in line fans/extractors that I could put in the 6" (might be 4", I forget) round ducting that would assist the unit to operate correctly. I would think there's something out there but not sure what it would be called and whether I can wire it to start when the unit comes on without making a combination switch to turn both on at the same time.
TIA for your time and expertise!Read More
I recognize this is a real Hail Mary. With the front cover raised on this system in order to extract and clean the filters, somehow the cover dislodged and fell to the floor. It was undamaged, but when it fell, the wire bundle (five very small gauge wires) that connected the wall unit to the controller board in the cover (receives remote signals) was pulled from its connector block on the controller motherboard. There are no markings on the connector block to tell me which pin accepts which color wire.
There is a manual on off button under the cover that will turn the unit on and off, but without the remote control, none of the temperature control features are available. It was suggested that I find the other termination of this wire bundle and observe the color order of the wires, but that is easier said than done. It does not terminate in the outside unit, but rather inside the wall unit somewhere. I lose sight of it behind a bit of plastic and an absolute spaghetti mass of larger gauge wires; and there is no obvious way to further remove the wall unit casing to see if I might access the termination point.
I cannot locate anyone in this country who claims to be a Chigo "authorized repair center" or similar, and email to the company in China has produced nothing. This problem I have is pretty obscure, as even if you had an identical unit to mine it would be difficult to note the wire order as the bundle is encased in a pretty snug (but quite small) boot.
On the small motherboard in the cover are two receiver lamps, one for "Start" and one for "Run." If I cannot find out the color order to repin the wires, I'm going to have to guess. I'm pretty sure I can determine which two wires control "Start" by just briefly touching the red (assume power) wore to each of the others to generate the "beep" that signals "on." But the three remaining would be a mystery.
Anyone with any ideas? If anyone has any knowledge of these units and a picture or two would help, I can provide.
