What happens if insects enter an AC's copper pipes? Does it require a lot of expensive repair or something which can be resolved cheaply?

Since those copper pipes are a sealed system for the refrigerant insects getting in is a major problem.

Anything getting inside the lines is a major problem. Some of the passages are the size of a pencil tip. They are clogged and restricted very easily.
