Haier window air conditioner

Hello, I bought a used Haier air conditioner. When I set the temp I want 63 degrees, it will go back to 72 and stay there. The appliance does not stop like a normal one would and then restart. I cleaned thermastat wire and everything inside looks nice and clean. Also when I set timer it shuts down. Any Ideas what's wrong ? Haier model # ESA406K-L. 6000 BTU Thanks

If the AC blowing cold air?

The 72 is probably the room temperature.

Also after about a half hour the room is definitely colder than 72 degrees but it still says 72 degrees.

Once you set the operating temperature..... the display defaults back to room air temperature.

Yes but, it should be lowering from 72 degrees. The room is lower than 72 degrees. Also when I set the timer even though I set it to 10 minutes it shuts right down. Changing to energy efficient doesn't change anything. Inside of unit is super clean. Like new. Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like a problem control board. Would be too costly to repair.

Standard A/C is the blower runs and the compressor cycles at temp.
Energy Efficient turns the blower and compressor on and off together.

The trouble with modern appliances is that there is often no separate thermostat as a individual module. Everything is often integrated on one control board.
