flooded golf cart

My 1990 ezgo electric golf cart was flooded this summer. Battery cables burned into as well as leads going to control box. Batteries have also been under water. How can batteries be saved and can wires simply be replaced. Advice from anyone with this knowledge/experience would be much appreciated

How long was it under water and was it fresh or salt water? If it was under fresh water for only a short while the batteries should be OK. It's not really that uncommon for carts to take a drunken ride into a water hazard or pond.

..... and I didn't even know golf carts drank

Is everything dry now? I'd pull the caps off of the battery and see if the electrolyte still looks ok and not overfilled. If it isn't overfilled it's likely no water got into it. I'd put the battery on a charger and see how it does. Water doesn't always hurt the wires but you'll need to check all the connections.
