prius brake question

I have a 2012 prius. I just put new brake pads and rotors in it and didn't have any of that brake quiet or silicone to put on the shoes. now I am getting a noise that maybe sounds like a wheel bearing or grinding. would not putting on the brake silicone cause this? let me know what you think and if you know what the brake quiet is supposed to do. thanks in advance

Aftermarket parts?

Noise is common, I always use OEM replacement parts just because of this!

Will the coatings help, maybe!

I used to put brake pads on all the time without the quite lube without issues.
I'd be pulling the wheel and double checking everything.

You're talking about two different things.

Brake Quiet is like a high tack adhesive that keeps the brakes from squealing when driving and sometimes when braking.

Not sure what silicone is but you need to use a touch of high heat grease on the metal brackets where the brake pads slide.

Neither product will stop or induce grinding.

You needed to push the caliper piston back in...... correct
Where any binding when you did that ?

I pushed the calipers in and greased the slide pins and the brackets with the hi temp grease. car makes a grinding noise sometimes and a lot of the time no noise at all and yes the parts are aftermarket. this is the first hybrid car I am having experience with. have owned domestic all my life and kind of know the noises and what they mean on them. here is an example: heat shield over the exhaust fell down on the muffler because the original screws wore through from vibration, really noisy, I thought motor or transmission was going out. looked underneath and saw the heat shield, took some large body washers to fix. checked around and it seems common with the prius, but I didn't know that.

It's possible the noise is from something new but you need to inspect your brake job well so you can either verify or eliminate it.

it turns out that the noise was a heat shield on the exhaust. the bolt holes that hold it in place wore through in a couple spots and I had to take off the nuts and put on fender washers. thanks for all the help.
