New bathroom

I am renovating a house in France, and my wife wants a bathtub placed in the MIDDLE of the room. I have strengthened the floor with noggins between the 2x8 joists, and will re-cover the joists with two layers of 5/8 plywood. My problem is getting the waste water from the bathtub to the down pipe in the corner of the room. I shall have to drill a 1 and 3/4 inch hole through two of the joists. If I keep this hole above the centre of the joist, will all remain safe? If not, can someone tell me how ? The room is one floor above ground level, and measures 8 ft x 13ft, with the joists going long ways.

Mick W, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I moved your question here because it is more "structural" than piping. Should get better answers here.
