Tray Ceilings - Examples

Thought I would provide some pictures of tray ceilings - various types showing the framing involved. This may give ideas to your next project, whether it be on any level within your home, depending on ceiling height. Even small trays can be appealing.

Hope this helps!

Can you tell exactly how you did this and do you have any pics? I have been looking into doing this but I wanted to see the final results first.

Beautiful work Doug!

3/4 bullnose would look great on a lot of it. (Of course it could be a bullnose nightmare if one wasn't familiar with the proper way to install it too )

Mudslinger,

Thanks - the last 4 pictures of that link, a job that took 8 months to complete, is finally done. This is the completed link with before and after views.

The other one, which has numerous trays, will be updated next week as the drywall has all been installed and walls are primed.

tomandbecca,

Tricking the eye as to what you see to enhance a room that may not have tall ceiling can easily be accomplished with different types and sizes of molding. Rather than painting a room 2 tone, it can be done using 3 colors and where you palce the trim. You may want to ask that question with Annette in Decorating - she is really good at this!

Hope this helps!
