Mosaic Tile surface

Hello-

How do I prepare the surface of a wrought iron table for mosaic tile? The area is mesh with eye-shaped gaps of about 1" long and 1/4" at the bulge. I plan on sanding, priming and painting the whole table before I begin. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums! Tiles will adhere, stay flat, and stay longer in place if they are installed on a flat surface. Yours may or may not be flat enough, and may flex too much once the weight is applied. Can you post a few pictures of the table so we can see what you are seeing? http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
My thoughts are to install 1/4" hardiebackcer with thinset to the top of the table. you will have to scrape off the excess thinset from oozing through the bottom of the design, but hopefully it will work for a table top.
