Cork flooring over ceramic tile

We're having a cold wave in Northern California and I am motivated to get warmer!
I live in a small two story home where the first floor is covered in ceramic tile over a slab on grade. I only have electricity for heat on the first floor.
Does anyone know if I could install a floating cork floor over the tile (in good condition) and help the insulating value of the cold, cold floor. I don't want to add radiant heat.
Thanks for any information!

You can install cork over ceramic if all tiles are secure. You will have to float a cementious patching cement over tiles making the surface smooth and free of grout lines. Cork requires a smooth, flat, and clean surface free of contaminants such as soil, oil, paint, wax, or other matter that can contaminate surface and cause adhesion failure. Tile will have to be washed with harsh detergent such as TSP (trisodium phosphate) and scarified by sanding for adhesion of the patching compound.

Just curious - why couldn't you use a floating cork floor over ceramic? Would all that be prep be required?

Sorry, I missed the 'floating.' Floating floor products can be floated over ceramic tile. As long as it is flat, you should be good to go. Install manufacturer's recommended underlayment and read and follow instructions to prevent voiding warranty.
