Will floor support my tile?

Planning to install 4 x 4 travertine tiles in a small bathroom - 40 sq. ft. Joists are 2 x 6's - 16 o.c. Will add 15/32 plywood to existing subfloor for a total of 1 1/2 inches before 1/4" Hardieboard. Is there sufficient support for these tiles? I've done the "bouncing" test and floor seems sound (house built in 1985). If this IS okay, am I pushing my luck by also tiling one 7' x 8' non-loadbearing wall with same tiles? I'm no pro but I've done a bunch of tiling, however, never with stone on a wood floor. Thanks for advice.

Thx. for the welcome. Only access for me to see is crawl space where joists appear to be 15 feet. The following may be way too much info. but possibly useful??? The house is built into a hill with deep pilings on both sides. Whole house is only 20' wide/ 35' long - 2 1/2 stories (the 1/2 story is the garage). Large exposed beams (10 x 8) run every eight feet between the two living floors, attached to the piling sides of the house ( I got a limited peak above a bookcase and they seem to be involved in structurally supporting the 3rd floor (where the bath floor in question is located). Don't know if this helps. Thx for the quick response.

To be safe, I would sister a new 2x6 to each joist under that bathroom. You don't have to do the entire 15' span..just the area under the bathroom. Glue + Screw the new to the old.

Explain all the layers. If there is a 1/4 layer of luan from a previous linoleum floor that needs to be removed. I would then add 3/4" instead of 1/2".
