New flooring issues I

I am currently installing new bamboo flooring. The problem that we encountered is this: when we attempted to floor around our kitchen island and tried to match up on the opposite end, we’ve noted that there is an approximate gap of 1 inch. Suggestions on how to correct this?

Before I get to the island I get a nice long row of flooring installed. Then I measure from the edge of the flooring out into the aisle on the other side of the island and make a mark. Then on the other side of the island I measure over the same EXACT amount and make a mark. Then I pop a chalk line connecting the two marks. That line is now parallel to the installed flooring. Then as I work I measure to the chalk line so I can make sure my flooring is staying parallel and the same distance away from the line on both sides of the island. You can make small corrections as you go.
