Question Cost to finish out my Basement

I have a basement that is unfinished I resently had a contractor quoted me a price of $7607.00 to finish it for me. To do this the way we want he will have to add 6 laminated beams so that we may remove 4 post. He is also to frame walls, install sheetrock and drop ceiling.
I will handle the wiring, duct work, paint.
When finished this room will be 24' x 28' about 2/3 of our basement.

Does this sound like a high price

Does this include the cost of the structural engineer to sign off on the design of the beams and the removal of the posts? Seems to me this would be extraordinarily risky to do without proper analysis.

THAT SOUND WAY TOO CHEAP TO DO THE WORK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. I ALSO AGREE WITH THE QUESTION OF HAVING AN EXPERT LOOK AT THE BEEM YOU ARE PUTTING IN. THOSE POSTS ARE THIER FOR A REASON

A knowledgeable contractor will have the beams designed and sealed by the supplier. The price is reasonable, however where are you located? The price on Long Island can be 30% more than in Florida.

that does sound like a good deal

At least half (probably 2/3s) of that cost is to replace the support columns with the lams.
