designing lighting plan
I am searching for info on how to redesign new lighting for my to be renovated basement. How many lights per sq foot. How many circuits? Basic stuff but I need help! Know a website or reference that can help? Thanx.

It's not everything you want, but try this. As to how many circuits, once you plan the lighting, divide the total wattage by 1440 to figure how many 15-amp circuits you need or by 1920 if using 20-amp circuits.
I like can lights -- they produce very pleasing lighting and can be easily dimmed. But fluorescent fixtures give you more lumens for the watt.
You're going to want a mixture of general lighting, accent lighting, as task lighting. Some of your lighting needs can be satisfied by floor lamps plugged into receptacles, but I prefer ceiling lighting and wall lighting if you already have a good idea of exactly what activities will be where.
