Attic Storage
Similar to 2old2fit, I am trying to create some storage space in my attic. However, this is space above my garage, and I am concerned about the load it can handle.
The attic floor is roughly 20' x 12' with a sloping roof above. The joists are 12' long, and have a vertical board connecting them to the roof trusses near the middle ( appx. 6' from the end)
Unfortunately, the joists appear to be 2x4s spaced 24" o.c. In fact, they are all stamped "Max 45lbs load".
I plan to use 3/4" plywood to create some flooring, and was wondering what I can do to make this setup stronger, (add joists, cross braces, etc) so I can stand up there without worrying about falling through...
