I'm living in a house built in 1959, typical small "A" frame. When I'm in the attic, I can see a sliver of daylight along the eaves at the front and back of the house. Is this for ventilation, or is this something I need to plug up?

It needs to be plugged up. Go on the outside, and calk the areas. Use a good calk. Good Luck

Insulating the attic, can I use fiber panel instead of gypsum boards, gypsum is so heavy and could bend the construction of the roof.

What is the best way with ordinary home tool to attach studs to cinderblock walls in the basement? Concrete nails dont seem to hold and break up the cinderblock.
