Vaulted Ceiling
#1

I have a bedroom that has a pitched roof.
I have removed the ceiling and now have the
ceiling joist and rafters exposed. I want to
make a vaulted ceiling with the drywall right up to the rafters. Can I just remove the old ceiling joist, or will that weaken the roof to much. Any help would be great.

Your houses' framing acts like one giant brace. If you weaken one part of it, you could cause irreparable damage elsewhere.
If you want vaulted ceilings the only way I wuld do it would be to vault in stages. If you are a good framing carpenter, you could do this yourself.
If you are ubsure of your skills and knowledge of framing, building construction, or carpentry in general - I would call an expert instead.
This is the kind of job I love to tackle!
