ATTIC FLOOR INSULATION

I recently had a Energy Advisor visit my home and advise me that I needed to insulate my attic floor. The attic is unheated but there is a hard wood floor over the joists. Under the floor it is insulated but the insulation is very old and not the proper R value. He advised to roll unfaced insulation over the floor and ontop of the ceiling of the heated room that is in the attic. Can I roll the insulation over a heat vent? Do you have any tips or suggestions on this project?

Just leave a hole where the heat vent is.Stay back about 4" on all sides.

Replacing the whole basement floor.

I am in the process of replacing me basement floor. The curent flooring consist of a 1.5 to 2'' concrete slab. Their are significant warps in the floor which reqyuire repair. I plan on removing the current floor myself, and having the concrete poured by the pro's. Are their any general things I should be concsious of as I hammer away at my existing floor? For example, Do I need to wory about removing the conrete near the edge of the walls? How deep should I dig?

I am going to improve my basement by adding a bedroom. The area has concrete walls with a wood subfloor. My question is what is the proper way to attach the studs to the existing walls? Should they be physically attached to the concrete wall or just to the upper and lower nailers. Also should I use 2x4s or furring strips. Thank-you
