I'm planning to have some blown cellulose insulation put in my attic, but need to install baffles before that's done, to keep the soffit vents open. In an exchange of posts (FlyingGuy and Lefty, July 17, 2000) this was sort of discussed but do definitive answer posted. If I install those pre-formed store bought baffles and staple them to the roof decking, there will still be a 4-6" gap which will allow that insulation to get down into the soffit. What is a good solution?

Purchase some R20-24 insulation, ( 6" thick x 23 wide) cut it into short pieces & place it under the baffle out to, but not on the soffit. Where there is no baffle, cut longer pieces and fold it in half like you would a slice of bread. Without compressing it, place it in between the truss out to the soffit.
