My 1st floor floors are somewhat chilli.
Is there anything I can do to make them warmer. Is it possible to insulate the basement ceiling. Help???

I'd like to see a response to this also. I have cold floors and I have been told not to insulate, that it wouldn't help. I do have insulation in the basement stuffed into the pockets between the floor and the cider block foundation.

condensation on walls& ceiling

We live in Portland Or. & have a 1922 bungalow. We have been getting condensation and now mold delevoping on the inside walls & ceiling of the upstairs rooms (converted attic). The upstairs is rectangular in shape with crawlspaces facing E & W and windows N & S no insulation on the walls & no roof vents that I can see. HELP!! Where should I start?

to drop? or not to drop?

I'm trying to figure out if I need to put in a drop ceiling or not in my basement, right now its unfinished. See right now, the pipes for the central air unit as well as a few others, run under the floor joists and not threw them like they do in most newer houses. I have less than 8inches between my head and the bottom of the boards. Now would it be easier and less expensive to put in a drop ceiling in and not move the pipes? or would it be better to just re all of the pipes, and wires (cable) and stuff threw the boards?
