Hi there. Hope there's some advice out there. I've just moved into an 11 yr. old house near a lake in Ontario. Year round. Has a 4 ft. crawl space that is pure, white and apparently very dry sand. I'm geting conflicting advice on putting vinyl barrier over the sand to keep moisture from the house. My concern is that I need the area to store items. Is a barrier a good idea and what is available and strong enough that can be walked on to store small items.

Cool

You do not need a plastic ground vapor barrier there. The air moisture near the lake will be higher, probably, than the ground mosture. If you put a normal plastic ground barrier down, it will just get torn up by storing things, etc., anyway. As long as your crawlspace is properly vented, you should be o.k. Good Luck!
