Question

Need to frame wall 24 feet long but am not sure how to keep it on the same plane, if yaknowhatimean. I've put up one 8' section so far and can keep it plumb but am worried the whole thing will be a little wavy when done as you sight down its length. I've tried measuring off the existing top plate or bottom of wall but neither are reliable, as the surfaces are irregular.

If you are attempting to put it up in 3 eight foot sections, it will probably turn out wavy. To at least reduce the amount of wave in it, snap a line on the ceiling joists and another line on the floor for the entire 24' and line your plates up to the lines. Then sheetrock it with 12' sheets. The aleternative would be to frame it in 12' sections and rock it with 8' sheets.

In addition to Lefty's correct comments, I would use 12' or longer floor sills.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. As I've already bought 8 footers I'll be going that route. Wish me luck. If anything else comes up...I'l be back.
