soffits or not

I have a 1500 Sq. ft rambler, that I am in the process of building. it is 3 bedroom, 2 bath.

The walls came to me pre-framed and sheathed, and, I had a framing contractor put up the roof trusses, and sheath it. Well, I have the portion under the eaves, where the trusses meet the top plate that has no sheathing on it.

The material package I got came with aluminum soffit material, but all the other houses in my neighboorhood don't have the boxed in soffits.

I am thinking I would like to follow suit, as I like the look. Do I just extend the wall sheathing OSB up onto the trusses to enclose the attic? If I do that, how do I deal with venting? I have a ridge vent right now, but from reading thru posts here, it appears I need some sort of vent under the eaves.

Please forgive my naive question, but I am just learning about all this good house building stuff.

Thanks

Ventilation

Typically with ridge vent ventilation you need an equal amount of soffit ventilation to balance air flow.
