I have a crack that goes trhough the wall of my basement, i am getting water leakage through this crack into the basement. How can i repair this??

Basement Walls

I am going to improve my basement by adding a bedroom. The area has concrete walls with a wood subfloor. My question is what is the proper way to attach the studs to the existing walls? Should they be physically attached to the concrete wall or just to the upper and lower nailers. Also should I use 2x4s or furring strips. Thank-you

Can we dig an old basement deeper?

Hi, We own a house that is over 100 yrs. old with a full basement. The foundation is limestone. The basement is barely 6' in height. Is there any way to deepen our basement so we could make it a finished basement? It appears that we would have to dig below the footings. Well, here's hoping someone has some ideas. Thanks, Rick
