basement ceiling insulation

I need to insulate a ceiling that is the bottom of a concrete porch. What insulation and covering could I use without losing a lot of head room? I am doing the job mostly by myself and hefting drywall to the ceiling seems out of the question. I thought about foam insulation and wall panels glued to the ceiling but I want something to hold it in place. HELP

Extruded poltstyrene will and adhesive will do the job. Put it on the ceiling first, then the walls.One inch thick gives you about R5

i have no idea on how to do this, but the house i moved into needs to have the basement resealed. is this something thats done on the inside or the outside of the basement, and will i be able to do this myself?

Sewer Pipe

I am remodelling my basement, and have run into a snag. I have a sewer pipe standing almost in the middle of the basement. I'm not exactly sure what to do with it. I can box it in, but then we'll have a column in the middle of the room. My wife says she can paint it like some sort of soldier guy standing there, but I don't think so. I could attach shelving to it, but that might look a little odd, too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm stuck until I figure this thing out!
