I am remodeling my basement and am about to run romex to my outlets. How high from the floor do my outlets have to be? I live in Wisconsin. I have heard from 6 inches all the way up to 3 feet.

I'm assuming you don't live in a high-flood risk area.

Just measure the height of your outlets upstairs, and put the ones in the basement the same height. You can use this trick to position your switches, your toilet, your bathroom mirror, and a zillion other decisions you have to make. When in doubt, just copy something that already exists.

I've found 18 inches (knee high) to be a good height. You don't have to stoop to plug something in it.
