uneven basement floor

uneven basement floor
My basement floor has high and low areas throughout. I intend to carpet all but the bathroom, but I am afraid some uneven
areas will be obvious even with the carpet. ( 2" variannce).
Any suggestions on what I can do?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
This has been a problem with numerous homes. Not knowing what you have now for ceiling height and the amount of work and/or that you want to invest, I can only provide 2 recommendations. Both are given with no regard to height problems.
First, if you think that the height issues are somewhat centralized, you could try and jackhammer sections out and apply a floor leveling mix over it. I stress that this may take some doing but only if the area is centralized. Some floor levelers are can be laid by yourself but may be time consuming but have satisfied results.
Second, if the area is all over, you could apply gypecrete floor leveler which normaly is installed by a professional due to equipment and can accomplish the task in minimum amount of time. Cost is a concern but this may be the best choice.
I have attached a links for you to review and make calls for cost comparisons;
