Basement Walls
I am refinishing a portion of the basement in my 30-year old home. The walls are poured concrete and the floor is a "floating" concrete type with about a one inch drainage area around the perimeter where the floor meets the wall. I want to put up drywall on the walls. If I frame the walls with 1 x 3 studs can I butt them up against the concrete wall? They will essentially cover the drainage area. What issues will I have with insulation?

Hi,my wife and i finished a room in our basement with bare poured concreat walls. What we did first was to coat the walls with hydraulic cement a water stop leak, just to be sure no water leakes after the walls went up.I studed right against the walls 16 on center than used pink insulation and so on.I say go get started. As for the drainage if you have never seen any water there should be ok to get started.Hopefully someone may have a better fix .just my 2 cents.
